“The writing is bright, the ideas thoughtful, the design relatively staid. Could this be a New Yorker for Vancouver?”
[...]
“VR has emerged as [a] publication that promises to define our culture for locals,
Canadians and—why not?—
international audiences.”
– The Vancouver Sun
“[The] images are beautifully clean and evocative, the writing is unapologetically intelligent without being overly conspicuous, and the layout includes something that is rarely found in print these days: breathing room.”
[...]
“The Vancouver Review definitely doesn't shy away from being critical—or controversial. But it's not afraid of being thoughtfully entertaining, either.”
– The Tyee
“The Vancouver Review is a very good read.”
– Westender
Vancouver Review is a Vancouver-based quarterly magazine that focuses on West Coast ideas, culture and arts. It publishes thought-provoking articles, essays, opinion pieces and reviews that are regularly complemented by new fiction, poetry and visual art. Its fresh look combines with intelligent content, making it an ideal medium for readers to get an in-depth look at what’s happening in the BC cultural sphere.
Now in its fourth year, the magazine is a critical hit, having won and/or been nominated for numerous western and national awards. It appeals to an audience that also enjoys publications such as Harper’s, The New Yorker and The Walrus. Readers have called it “brilliant and refreshing” and “a great cerebral jolt,” and frequently comment on the “great writing.” One declared herself “stunned, delighted and converted.”
By advertising in Vancouver Review, advertisers will reach over 10,000 educated and professionally established readers who participate in the cultural life of their city and province. The magazine is sold on newsstands and in bookstores throughout BC (and in major cities across Canada) as well as through subscriptions. It is also promoted via complimentary copies at arts and cultural events, and though partnerships with organizations such as Philosophers’ Café. In this way, all 5,000 copies of each issue directly reach their target audience.
